Firefighters open day, Črnuče 2019
On Saturday, 1.6.2019 we attended an event entitled "Firefighters Open Day". The event was held in Črnuče, organized by Voluntarily Fire Department Črnuče.
Besides DVRPS there were several other groups presenting theirselves: Ljubljana Police Directorate, Slovenian Police, Fire Brigade Ljubljana, Security Service of Ljubljana and Municipality of Ljubljana.
Each organization was able to present itself to the visitors individually or as part of the organizers program. We decided to introduce our work in a half-hour program, in which we presented to the visitors a brief history of DVRPS, the characteristics and process of dog training and, in the last part, we presented some practical exercises. Especially in this last part, we tried to connect with the visitors the most. Exercises SIT, PLACE, STAND were shown as they are thought at first level and how are they done by trained rescue dog. We also introduced exercises TUNEL and LADDER. When we were showing puppy-level exercises, we invited visitors to try out as guides or assistants. The expressions on children’s faces when a dog completes a task are priceless.
The event ended successfully at 1 pm with lunch for the participants of the event. All dogs who participated in the event deserve praise for kindness, patience, courage, playfulness, obedience ...
We collaborated with Petra Adamič & Tara, Silvana Šneberger & Lola, Vesna Žagar with Jaffa and Kali and Žana Hvastija & Viki.
